Waybill Night is an offline operating-session planner for model railroaders. This page explains exactly what the app does — and does not — collect.
The short version
Waybill Night collects no personal data, uses no analytics, contains no advertising, and has no user account. Everything you create — car cards, waybills, your layout, session logs, and any photos you add — is stored only in the app's local storage on your own device. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the app stores, and where
- Your railroad data. Car cards, waybills, towns, industries, jobs and session logs are saved as files in the app's local Application Support folder on your device.
- Photos you add. Photos you take or choose for a car card or your layout are saved in a local photo folder inside the app's own storage. They are never uploaded.
- Preferences. Settings such as clock ratio, sound and haptics toggles are saved locally on your device.
None of this data leaves your device. Deleting the app deletes it. There is no cloud backup, no sync service, and no server operated by us that the app talks to.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera. Used only when you choose to photograph a car for its car card or take a picture for your layout. The camera is never accessed without you tapping to use it.
- Photo library. Used only when you choose to pick an existing photo for a car card or your layout, through the system picker. The app only receives the image you select — it does not get open-ended access to your library.
- Notifications. Used only for two optional, locally-scheduled reminders you can turn on: a crew-call reminder before a planned session, and a wrap-up alert after the fast clock has been running for a while. These notifications are generated on your device; nothing is sent through a push server.
Third parties
Waybill Night does not embed any advertising network, analytics SDK, or tracking library. The app's Library tab can open three outside hobby-organization websites (NMRA, the Operations Special Interest Group, and MOROP) inside an in-app browser so you can look something up without leaving the app. Visiting one of those pages is subject to that organization's own privacy practices, not ours — we do not receive any data from those visits.
Children's privacy
Waybill Night does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that stores data differently — this page will be updated and the effective date above will change accordingly.
